Core Values

At the core of all we do, WOP values:

Respect: We affirm the dignity, potential and contribution of beneficiaries, donors, partners and staff.

Integrity: Our actions are consistent with our mission. We are honest and transparent in what we do and say, and accept responsibility for our collective and individual actions.

Commitment: We work together effectively to serve the community.

Excellence: We constantly challenge ourselves to the highest levels of learning and performance to achieve greater impact.

Mission: Is to empower communities, especially women, to use their God-given potential and attributes to live purposeful lives.


1. Promote and protect women’s rights through mainstreaming public awareness and observance of local human rights instruments.

2. To bring together Communities for joint action against discriminative practices and traditions.

3. Provide technical and policy expertise to communities, civic leaders and policy makers on human rights and community development issues.

4. To encourage and facilitate the initiation of community based projects aimed at improving the welfare of both men and women.

5. To uplift the living conditions of families through training in life skills and facilitation of income generating activities.

6. Promote knowledge of women’s rights and help in the enforcement of those rights.

7. Research into the circumstances and position of women in rural areas.


We strive to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in Uganda. Drawing strength from our international and local partnerships, resources and experience, we promote community participation and are advocates for collective responsibility.
